Monkey Business? Are you joking?

We've got our noses to the grindstone here at Harbor House as we prep for the Grand Opening coming Saturday, September 24, 2016.

And we're excited, too! Things are taking shape and looking good. However...

Ruth and I are taking a holiday this weekend (for our 33rd wedding anniversary), but come Tuesday we'll be back at it. The paint work and renovation are almost complete! Soon we'll be posting more photographs. Stay tuned so you don't miss out.

Meanwhile, check out our Sessions page to see what classes, workshops and seminars are just around the corner. It's time to think about signing up as classes are limited in size.

And if you homeschool your children and want to see them tutored in or taught English composition and/or grammar, spelling, etc. be sure to drop us an email or give us a call (the info is at the bottom of this page). We're checking the interest now and are considering adding this to our offering.

Finally, be sure to mark your calendar for our Open House on September, 24 from 2-6 p.m. There will be tours and light refreshments.

Grand Opening Gala

We have a very limited number of tickets available for our Gala at 6:30 that evening. The event begins with a thirty minutes of socialization and touring during which light snacks and beverages will be served. At 7 p.m. we'll have a short formal dedication and  address followed by a light meal and sparkling cider. There will be door prizes given away at this time. The evening will conclude at 8 p.m. The tickets are $20 per couple.

So, don't monkey around. Plan now to join us.

Thirty Days in Da Coolah!

I know that dates me, but I remember the TV show Hogan's Heros. The line comes from Col. Klink and it basically meant you get a month in solitary.

Well, I'm writing at midnight so that kind of strange headline and lead are what you get.

Truth be told, what I mean to say is:

Today marks the thirty day countdown to our Sept. 24 opening! Yeah! Yikes! It also marks the last two days of our capital crowd-sourcing campaign on IndieGoGo. Thus far we've raised but 10% of our goal (thus compromises and corner-cutting will be made, barring a miracle).

At any rate, we are going ahead with plans and will open on schedule as the song says, "if the good Lord's willin' an the creek don't rise. " All are welcome to our open house. So come on out. Put on your waders if you have to.

BTW: We were in the Daily World. Here's the link.

Quick Post, Quick Reminder, Quick Request

Our IndieGoGo campaign to get the Harbor House Writing Center doors open is a week old. We're at 5% of our goal. We have two weeks left to bring in the rest of what we need.

We're giving away some nice perks to our contributors (like the mug on the left). So, please, please, please check out the campaign page and consider a gift...whatever you can (every little bit helps).

My Recent Radio Ramblings

Well, that experience was interesting. I don't believe I've ever done live radio before. It was a little tense for me, but host Kyle Pauley put me at ease.

I stumbled a bit, but did okay. If you want to hear the interview it will be repeated next week (I hear it will be around 6:30 a.m.). I'll also post it here when I get a chance to convert the recording.

Also, stay tuned for next time. I've been invited back.
